The Arizona Cardinals were unable to continue their recent success. After their bye week, they failed to score a touchdown and the Seattle Seahawks defeated them 16-6 at Lumen Field and were limited to just 298 yards.
Kyler Murray threw a pick-six and was sacked five times, and the Arizona offense was just 3 of 12 on third down.
The loss dropped them to 6-5 and knocked them out of first place in the NFC West, handing them their first division loss of the season.
This is how the game went.
2 Seahawks sacks
The Cardinals opened the game on offense and Kyler Murray was sacked on consecutive plays, leading to a punt. Jonah Williams started the game at right tackle.
The Seahawks' defensive touchdown goes off the board
On the Cardinals' third possession, defensive tackle Leonard Williams hit Murray's arm on a throw. It appeared to be an incomplete pass, but linebacker Tyrice Knight picked up the ball and returned it for a touchdown when the officials didn't blow the whistle. During the check it turned out that it was an incomplete passport.
Murray TD pass canceled
Murray had a seven-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson, but a holding penalty on Paris Johnson negated it.
Cardinals 3, Seahawks 0
After the holding penalty, Murray's third throw was a fantastic catch by Marvin Harrison Jr., but he failed to get two feet downfield for the touchdown. Jonathan Gannon challenged the game but it was upheld. Chad Ryland hit a 35-yard field goal to give Arizona the lead.
Seahawks 7, Cardinals 3
The Seahawks got a big play when Jaxon Smith-Njigba completed a short pass 47 yards to the four-yard line as the Cardinals reached six yards. After two running plays, Smith found Smith-Njigba for a three-yard touchdown pass to take the lead with 1:14 left in the first half.
Pick-6 on 4th down: Seahawks 13, Cardinals 3
On fourth down at the Seattle 41, Murray threw a pick to Coby Bryant, who returned it 69 yards for a touchdown. The extra point was missed.
Murray tried to run for the first down, but Devon Witherspoon sensed it and had the angle to catch him. Murray tried to throw the ball to Michael Wilson, but he missed.
Garrett Williams INT!
Early in the fourth quarter, Geno Smith threw an interception in the end zone to Garrett Williams on third down. It was a great game with the Seahawks on the verge of adding points.
Seahawks 13, Cardinals 6
After the interception, the Cardinals had to settle for a 22-yard field goal after failing to score a touchdown in a goal-to-go situation for the first time all season. Michael Wilson's 30-yard over-the-shoulder catch got them within 10, but Murray's third-down throw to Trey McBride was too high and Ryland made his second field goal of the game to get them within a touchdown.
Seahawks 16, Cardinals 6
Jason Myers hit a 50-yard field goal right after the two-minute warning, giving the Seahawks a 10-point lead.
Ryland misses FG, Cardinals lose
The Cardinals' last attempt to win was thwarted. Hoping for a made field goal, an onside kick and a miracle touchdown, Ryland missed a 47-yard field goal with 15 seconds left. The Seahawks had to hunker down to run out the clock and win the game, giving them first place.
